DGE Skills Workshop 2025: Applied Environmental Monitoring using Google Earth Engine and Python

Events

Biyernes, Nobyembre 21, 2025

The Skills Workshop 2025 equipped participants with foundational skills in Applied Environmental Monitoring using Google Earth Engine and Python through hands-on training led by For. Reginald Jay Argamosa.

The Skills Workshop 2025 was held on November 8, 2025, continuing the Department of Geodetic Engineering’s commitment to providing students with access to advanced and emerging technical competencies. This annual activity offers supplementary lectures and practical sessions on specialized topics not typically covered in the undergraduate coursework.

This year’s workshop centered on Applied Environmental Monitoring using Google Earth Engine (GEE) and Python, aiming to introduce participants to modern tools widely used in environmental analysis, geospatial processing, and remote sensing applications. The session provided a comprehensive overview of GEE’s cloud-based geospatial capabilities and its parallel implementation in Python, enabling students to apply both platforms in analyzing environmental datasets.

For. Reginald Jay Argamosa guided participants through hands-on exercises. The practical nature of the workshop enabled attendees to confidently apply their newly learned concepts.

Aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, the event supported the department’s commitment to promoting accessible and future-ready learning opportunities. A total of 12 participants took part in the workshop, gaining essential skills beneficial for environmental monitoring, geospatial analysis, and data-driven decision-making.

The Skills Workshop continues to serve as a valuable platform for nurturing technical proficiency and encouraging continuous learning among Geodetic Engineering students.
