A research paper from UP DGE won the JSPRS Outstanding Paper Award at the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) 2023 in Taiwan. The study analyzed satellite-based trace gas concentrations in the Port of Manila, showcasing the department’s excellence in geospatial research.

The UP Department of Geodetic Engineering (UP DGE) proudly celebrates the achievement of its researchers at the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) 2023, held in Taiwan from October 30 to November 3, 2023. Their paper, titled “Spatiotemporal Analysis of Satellite-Based Trace Gas Concentrations in Port of Manila, Philippines,” received the JSPRS Outstanding Paper Award, a prestigious recognition for excellence in remote sensing research.

The award-winning study, authored by Laurelly Joyce Aporto, Marie Antoinette Latunio, Roseanne Ramos, and Ayin Tamondong, highlights the use of satellite data to monitor air quality in the Port of Manila, emphasizing the critical role of remote sensing in environmental assessment.

This international recognition reaffirms UP DGE’s leadership in geospatial science, strengthening its reputation in remote sensing research and environmental monitoring. The department extends its heartfelt congratulations to the authors for their exceptional contribution and for representing UP DGE on the global stage.
