Training Courses
The Training Center for Applied Geodesy and Photogrammetry at the University of the Philippines regularly offers courses in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Global Navigation Satellite System. Additionally, it provides specialized training designed to address unique and evolving challenges within the geospatial industry.
TRAINING COURSES
The training courses are offered per semester or per year, subject to availability of course handlers and lecture rooms. The 3-week training includes lectures, hands-on exercises and take-home requirements that the trainees will need to complete within the set deadline. Only trainees who will be able to successfully complete all the requirements and deliverables will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. Trainees who will not be able to finish the course or submit all the deliverables will only be given a Certificate of Participation indicating the dates attended.

Admissions Criteria

An “Invitation to Apply” email is sent to the UP TCAGP mailing list about two (2) months prior to the scheduled start of the training period. This email includes the information sheet for the training courses, which contains the details about the courses to be offered during the semester, dates to remember, mode of implementation, training duration and application instructions.

The application period for the training courses typically starts two (2) months before the training schedule, as soon as the invitation emails are sent. All applicants are then evaluated by the training committee as soon as the application period ends, which is around a month before the training proper. Accepted applicants are given a week to confirm their slot, after which waitlisted applicants are contacted in case the slots have not been filled up.

Applicants are evaluated based on the following criteria: (1) Need of the agency to send a trainee; (2) Academic and training background of the applicant; and (3) Potential of the applicant to contribute to his/her agency after course completion.
