The University of the Philippines Department of Geodetic Engineering (UP DGE) has received one pair of survey-grade Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers through the joint support of EarthNav Trading Corp., RC Tollo Surveying Services, and the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines – National Capital Region (GEP-NCR). The donation adds high-precision satellite-based positioning capability to the Department’s teaching and training facilities.

The GNSS receivers will be used in classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and field exercises, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with the same technology used in professional surveying and geospatial practice. GNSS plays a central role in modern geodetic engineering, supporting applications such as land and engineering surveys, mapping, control networks, and infrastructure development.

With access to professional-grade GNSS equipment, students will be able to practice realistic surveying workflows, from data collection in the field to processing and analysis, in ways that reflect current industry and government standards. The new equipment strengthens UP DGE’s capacity to provide high-quality, practice-oriented training for future geodetic engineers.

Through this collaborative effort, EarthNav Trading Corp., RC Tollo Surveying Services, and GEP-NCR demonstrate their shared commitment to investing in the next generation of Filipino geodetic engineers and to the continued growth of the country’s geospatial and surveying community.
